mpg321 won't play high quality ogg vorbis files
 
I'm trying to use mpg321 (& mpg123) to play high quality (ie: > 256 KBPS) ogg vorbis files. These files don't get played properly. They make a few "blippy" noises on the speaker, then skip through the file.

Other applications, such as mp3blaster, work just fine. Mp3 files play fine with mpg321.

I need to use a simple text application to play the files (mp3blaster throws too much stuff on the screen). I can't use ogg123 to play these files, since I am playing a combination of ogg and mp3's.

I'm using ALSA 0.9 w/ kernel 2.4.21 on a Libranet/debian system.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to make mpg321 work?

I'm not sure how to mpg321 to work properly ...but you could try Mplayer.(forget the home page) it is test based...it'll play wav,mp3,ogg,wma. And when in XWindows you can watch movies....I tried it and I haven't used anything else since.

I'll look around and see about mpg321. But I would suggest trying Mplayer.
