MPD client

I have installed mpd on my Arch box and it starts correctly with "/etc/rc.d/mpd start" My clients (ncmpc,sonata and gmpc) connect. My problem is that I can't update the client - at least when I try I only get a partial update. I have around 5 gb of music but only 3 albums appear (2 different artists.)

My mpd.conf has the following:

music_directory "/home/esteeven/Music"
playlist_directory "/var/lib/mpd/playlists"
db_file "/var/lib/mpd/mpd.db"
log_file "/var/log/mpd/mpd.log"
pid_file "/var/run/mpd/mpd.pid"

I can't work out what to do next.

Ah ha! I can work out what to do next. I was running mpd as user "mpd" : I commented out this line in mpd.conf and everything now works fine.

I am a winner!

I am running mpd under the user mpd. I found that selinux was preventing access to music in my home directory. So some other choices are to move selinux back to permissive or move your music over to the mpd home directory.
