I am totally new to Linux and searching for a good mp3 player or a plugin to play mp3 files at best quality possible.I've already tried many things and plugins for a week but I couldn't get a good quality for mp3s.(I am running the Fedora Core 4 (Gnome) on my laptop.)
For example; on Xmms
I don't know how to explain this but the sound is really bad, it makes strange noises on the background when I am playing an mp3 file.Is there any way to fix this problem?
I just want to know which program u guys use for mp3s on FC4.
xmms is the best thing to use. Check preferences and make sure you're using the ALSA drivers. You did install ALSA, didn't you? It's also possible that you have a really messed up mp3 codec. You should have LAME.

I have no idea about ALSA drivers & LAME I made a research about them and got some information about what they really are.The installation of ALSA drivers is ok but I am having a trouble while I am installing lame-3.96.1 to my system.I have all the info. about how to install it but I coulnd't find how to resolve this error message.Here is what I do and the error message;
Quote:
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-mp3rtp && make
when I write this on, it takes for a while and does a lot things.At the end I get this error messages;

I just wanted to add this; I guess I have a problem about my compiler (gcc)..because I got another error like this when I installed another software a couple days ago.
