mp3 playback


I just downloaded MPlayer- 1.0pre3.tar and xmms-mp3-fc1.tar. How would I install them?

extract the tars and then read the files "README" and "INSTALL"

thx dude, im on windows now, but i have to dl on win and transfer to linux, so i have no clue what the packages contain until i finish writing the cdr.

by the way, if you are using the same computer, you don't need to use a cdr, and both winzip and winrar can read .tar.gz (though not tar.bz2)

also, if fedora has a problem with playing mp3's, you may need to get an mp3 decoding library (like in redhat)

most things can be installed with
./configure
make
su (enter root password)
make install
exit

with mplayer, you should use ./configure --enable-gui in order to get a gmplayer option so that you can use a gui later on if you choose
