mozzila closes after loading any page...

ok, this is soooooooooooooooo wierd. in root, my mozzila and Galeon run fine. i can load any page, surf the net just fine. but when i'm logged in as a user, mozzila and galeon just shutdown after they load a page. i managed to start it up, but had to hit the stop button in order so that it doesn't load any pages. no, under prefences, i have it set so that when i first load it, it comes up to a blank page. but still, if i enter any website and try to load it, it'll take time, show a few pics here and there, but then just shutdown. why does it do this? what should i do? thnx

using gnome on RH8

Hi ambelos!

Well, I have no idea. But if I was you, I'd try doing the following:

1 - Delete any file located at your /home/user which looks like .mozilla or .galeon. Try openning the browsers again and see if it works. If not, then:

2 - Give permissions to the users to run the browsers. Try something like chown 666 /usr/bin/mozilla and chmod 666 /usr/bin/mozilla. Now open the broswer again as an user and see it it works.

Good luck!

Oops, if you still get the same problem after doing the stuff I said, try running mozilla or galeon from a terminal and see if it brings any error message. There might be a .log file somewhere too that you could check for errors

no .log files. no files with .mozilla or .galeon files. I even looked through the /.mozilla and galeon folders. I aslo did chown and chmod, but nothing. i don't understand the reason for '666'. am i supposed to replace that with something or is that acctualy supposed to be entered? i also ran both programs from terminal, but nothing was printed after that. would it be smart for me to replace the /.mozilla from <user> with the one from root?

thnx

ok, to add to the wierdness, now, when i click on mozilla icon, galeon pops up, and also, if i log in using kde desktop instead of gnome, then galeon opens up just fine, and i can serf the net. otherwise, in the same user using gnome, it just shuts down. i can't figure it out, this is totaly wierd.

thnx, jay

Very bad . Well, remove mozilla and reinstall it from your CD's. The good thing would be if you could also run an update just to make sure it isn't an old bug...
