Mozilla problems: Print/print preview doesn't work, not recording sites in history...
 

I'm using Mozilla as a browser, and it was working OK up until yesterday, when I started to have some problems:

In "Manage Bookmarks" I can't create new folders
Print/Print preview don't work - click on them, nothing happens
Sites aren't being recorded in "History" after 3 days ago

I'd say which version of Mozilla I'm using, but clicking "About Mozilla" just brings up an empty page - as does clicking on a link in any emails (I use Evolution).

There are probably other things wrong too that I haven't noticed yet.

Any ideas?

PS - Also, the password manager seems to have stopped working.

And the back button doesn't work now either - just stays greyed out.

Soon after I wrote the above, mozilla stopped working altogether.

What happened was I thought "I'll create a new profile, to see if that works", so I did that, but next time I opened mozilla, the "Choose profile" box came up, but clicking "Start mozilla" after choosing a profile resulted in nothing happening, whichever profile I had chosen.

So I made a copy of my user profile folder from .moziila, then uninstalled and reinstalled mozilla. It's working OK again now, all the problems I mentioned above resolved (and some I didn't mention, like import/export bookmarks not working) Rather to my surprise the new installation had all my bookmarks, passwords, cookies, etc, without me having to copy the profile folder back. I had thought that a new profile would have been created with a reinstall, but it seems not.

Anyway - it seems I found the answer without really knowing the question. Does anybody have any theories why this happened? Has it happened to anyone else? Will it happen again? Who knows.

It was Mozilla 1.3, my distro is Mandrake 9.1

Any thoughts anyone?

I don't have any answers but I have had the exact same problem with Mozilla 1.4 running on Slackware 9.1. Has happened sporadically (3 times in 2 months) and is fixed by a reinstall. I've searched on Google, etc and have not seen any reason why this should happen. I thought it was a Slackware problem but it's interesting that it happened to you with Mandrake.
