Mozilla problem

I have just recently installed Red Hat 9 on my computer and i have used the internet configuration wizard to configure my connection. However i can access my schools webpage, but not something like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com. Why not? Im on Gnome GUI.

They could be blocking access.. I'd talk to your school in this case.. can you even ping the site though? What about any other sites?

i know i can get to it b/c the rest of the computers in the lab are windows 2000. I simply took one of those computers and put linux on it instead

I would think computers in labs might be restricted to campus network only.. probably best to check with your school at this point. Unless a member is on the IT staff at your school.. we probably won't have an answer for you.

Crap read it wrong..

Edited version.. Check your /etc/resolv.conf file for the correct DNS server entries.. also might want to make sure your not behind a proxy server, etc.

You don't have to activate Redhat.
