Mozilla plugin problem

i just downloaded macromedia flash plugin for mozilla.
i just copied it to the plugins directory and run mozilla,
it didn't want to work at the very beginnig and i remembered to allow execution in the properties
after i re-run mozilla , it worked and browsed www.macromedia.com to see it working and worked perfect !
the next day i run mozilla and took 10 sec to open !!
but it worked, and don't know what could have caused the problem, i wonder if anyone has come across this problem?

Regards

chmod +x

As root:

chmod +x /path/to/plugin/libflashplayer.so

if that's the name of your flash player.

I presume that you know the real path. Mine's in /usr/lib/netscape/plugins, yours may be different.

Input: chmod +x /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/to/plugin/libflashplayer.so

Output: chmod:failed to get attributes of /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/to/plugin/libflashplayer.so

Cheers

You were a bit too literal with his path example. Try:

chmod +x /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

You can also do:
locate flashplayer

... to find the file, if it's not in the directory specified above.

Alternativelly u can also do a user level install of the plugins. In the .mozilla/plugins directory

Do this
$ cd ~/.mozilla/plugins

copy the libflashplayer.so to this directory.
do a chmod u+x on this file.

You can use this if u cannot find where you have installed mozilla.

Just for the record.. The flash plugin seems to use plenty CPU, maybe that's why it takes longer to start Mozilla after you guys have installed it.

But if you wait for something good...
