Mozilla has lost its mind, opens rpm files with RealPlayer
I am trying to download AOL Instant Messenger for Red Hat Linux. Naturally, the file offered by AOL for this is an rpm. Without asking me and for reasons that I don't know, Mozilla 1.7.6 has decided that files of this extension should be opened in RealPlayer.
RealPlayer has no idea what to do with a file of this type and just does nothing.
The only "support" offered by AOL is either to read their FAQs (no help) or submit a bug report. The bug report says specifically that you will NOT get any type of reply from anybody and your problem will only be discussed by their people if it happens to enough people. Thanks for nothing.
Please, oh great users and advocates of Linux, help me.
Thank you
I tried your suggestion already, that is, right click then select Save Target Link As. Guess what? The link isn't to the file, the link is to the .asp page that sends the file. I guess I could save that if I want another useless file on my computer.

Do I detect a note of sarcasm??
Have you looked at the Mozilla preferences for what apps are assigned to various extensions?
