Mozilla/Firefox: Text only appears when marked

I am missing text passages on some webpages. I can make them visible by marking them, but even then, not all of it gets visible. I also tried to change the background color, but the text stays invisible. Only the underlines of links can be seen all the time.
On some pages, only a small passage within one paragraph is missing, and on others only a few words appear.

This happens in Mozilla 1.6 and Firefox 0.8

I think this is not a problem of the browser, since this strange behaviour does not appear when I use Mozilla on a Windows machine. On the other hand, Konquerer does display the missing passages.

Has someone else experienced this and can help?

Thanks, Markus

Solved...

It was just a codepage problem. The text that was not displayed contained special characters. My codepage was set to UTF-8. Now I changed it to ISO-8859-1 and the text appeared.
