mozilla crashed my box
i was downloading the newest suse9.2 live CD
516k/s ! just when it was about to finished my box (running suse9.1 with gnome2.4) freezed i started all over again and using top to find that mozilla-bin is eating about 50% of the cpu i also noticed that the hard disk lamp flickers about every 3 seconds and then my box freezes for 0.5 seconds i know this is coz the stuff needs to be written onto the disk but this process seems to be extreamly unstable as i tried to run other small programs my box goes dead again is it the problem with mozilla or something else ? i'm using the newes version of mozilla downloaded and installed only yesterday thanks in advance |
btw:
what log can i read for some hints from my box (if there's still time enough for her to log something before going to freeze) ? i check the /var/log dir and didnt find anything interesting |
maybe /var/log/messages or dmesg. Surely you were not downloading something as big as an iso with Mozilla? That should not affect performance but it can be a pain if something happens as it did with you then you have to start the download all over.
Next time maybe try grabbing iso's with wget and pass the resume option in case that happens again you can continue where ya left off. |
