Mozilla - back/forward buttons don't work

I have this version:

Mozilla 1.5 Beta

When I browse the web I cannot click BACK or FORWARD. It is really annoying. Also, download links are not working. If I click a link that should activate a download and it WAS working fine until about three days ago. Then nothing. If I click a regualr .html or asp or a graphioc file link it all works fine but if I want to download something it does not work, ever save link target as does not work.

I've been keeping Konqeror open just to be able to download stuff.

HELP.......?
