Mozilla 1.6 pblm

I installed Mozilla 1.6 on my system and when i'm trying to type anything in the address bar the program is hanging .Simillarly other applications like the IRC Client also got hang when typing on the keyboard , even a single letter is not displaying
please help me to solve this problem
I also tried Firebird, same problem encountered.My previous version of Mozilla has no problem (v 1.2)

I have noticed this with iptables blockign loclhost requests. Try temporarily disabling iptables and try again.

Sounds like your loopback interface is not up. If you do /sbin/ifconfig -a, does your loopback interface 'lo' show up as running ? You should be able to ping your hostname. The loopback interface is activated by the network service. Make sure the network service is started on boot by init. You can check and configure it by using /usr/sbin/ntsysv.
