I've installed Slackware 9.0 and the goodies that came with it like Mozilla 1.3 and KDE.

I've got sound working great: all the little system sounds (like when you open a window) are all working.

But my Mozilla does not play a sound for new mail notification. Not if it has focus, not if it is minimised, not if it is playing the system default sound, not if it is playing a custom .wav file, nothing.

I feel like I'm missing something stupid here: How do I get the notification sound?

Also is there a way to get a notification popup or taskbar icon for new mail, like on the Mozilla for windows?

a little off your topic but kinda on the same topic, but does the sound play if you try using the notification in kmail, cause maybe you could use that instead of mozilla if it works..

Haven't tried kmail. Maybe I'll give it a shot just to help debug the sound problem, but I'd prefer to stick with Mozilla for the long haul.

Any other ideas?
