Mozilla 1.2.1 and JRE

Hello everyone. I'm posting because of a serious problem I have with the Java Plugin and Mozilla.

I recently switched to RedHat and I'm starting to get used to using Mozilla. I have installed the JRE and I am trying to install the Java plugin.

The problem comes because everytime I load a page that requires the plugin, Mozilla terminates, just completely closes.

I created a symbolic link to the plugin file in the Mozilla/Plugins folder. I also used "About Plugins" to confirm that the Java plugin is installed. Yet the browser still repeatedly closes and the plugin in fails. I have had the same results with Netscape.

Could someone PLEASE help me? !
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you

i suggest you try blackdown java; use these instructions.
and get the java runtime here.

*note which of the two j2re files you need, depends on the
version of gcc you are using.

good luck.

i've also heard that java will crash mozilla that was built with a newer library (or something like that).

The 1.4.2-beta from Sun and the plugin from ns610-gcc32 should work fine. The blackdown gcc32 version should also be ok
