moving / from one partition to another
My HD is in 3 partitions: hda1(with debian; is largest partition), hda5(swap), and hda6(slackware), of which I'm currently loving slackware. I want to wipe out my debian partition and take every from hda6 and put it in hda1, freeing up lots of space on hda6 for /home stuff. What's the best way to do this? Safest? I don't wanna lose anything from my hda6/slackware installation...
Thanks, Chris |
Have you got enough room in hda6 for slackware? If so, the easiest solution is just turn hda1 into /home. It will solve a lot of hassle! 8)
Simply reformat, mount under a temporary mount point and move all your current /home into it. Then edit /etc/fstab to automatically mount /home. |
