Ive managed to get Slackware 10 installed, and working with my LAN card Couldnt get it to work with the Onboard lan, so im using a PCMCIA card.
When i've got it all set up, it will be running IRCd and a couple of eggdrop bots. I've installed the first eggdrop, but i need to get the conf file for it into the folder i've created it on the linux machine.
How can i get a file there, when the file i have is on a windows machine? Also, the Linux machine doesnt have a floppy drive
we need to know more.. like is the windows box separate from the linux box... of not what filesystem on windows u are using? is both box's connected to the internet or a little lan? we may be able to help u more
hi scott, there are different ways:
1) use SAMBA (you can mount a Windows-share directly from linux-shell), look at smbmount!
2) use NFS
3) use a FTP-Client, when a FTP-Server is running on your linux
...
perhaps the easiest way for you is using a ssh-client like putty to transfer the file(s) from one machine to the other.
make a folder on the xp box and right click and share it... install samba client and smb4k ... i think the easiest... and mount folder... then in konqueror go to the mount point (usually /home/you/smb4k/machine_name/ and split the konqueror window (Window... split left/right) and get the second window to where u want the file... drag and drop
hope thats been helpfull... (do it as root or sudo)
