Unhappy movie doesn't resize in mplayer

i installed slackware 9.1 on my laptop recently, and decided i wanted to play movie files so i loaded mplayer 1.0pre2. when i load a movie file, it plays really nicely but does not the movie does not resize with the window. it is not just in gmplayer but also in mplayer (using cmd line --zoom option) the movie just does not resize. please help.

Edit: i am using ATI Radeon IGP 32 for a video card. but my xfreeconfig is using a vesa driver. even thou i did get ati.2 drivers and installed them.

Your problem is with the video driver you have selected. In gmplayer goto Preferences -> Video and choose a different driver. I had that problem, the only one that would resize was the x11 driver. So just keep guessing and checking.

i already fixed the problem. the problem was not with my mplayer but my X configuration. after a bit of editing my Xfree86Config i was good to go.

the problem i had was that mplayer was not using the right display (-vo) so i had to configure my X so that mplayer could use xv (-vo xv). to do this i had to mess around with Xfree86Config and the drivers it used.
