Question Movable Type

Ok, so i decided to get my own webserver, i got slackware9.
i got apache working, i got FTP.
Then i decided that i want to host my own weblog , so i downloaded the MovableType binaries, installed it all, and when i try to access the mt.cgi or mt-check.cgi files remotely, apache returns the 403 Access Denied Error.

all files in /MT are chmod ed to 755, and chowned by root,
i have no idea how to correct this problem, so please any help is greatly welcomed.
