Question mousewheel change desktop in kde?

anyone know how to get kde to switch desktops on mousewheel like in fluxbox??

in fluxbox, when you have no window activeted, mousewheel actions switch desktops,
i think this feature is great, and want to use it with other window managers.... any ideas??

Since I haven't had time to play with that, please tell me (and others ) exactly what you do with the mouse wheel?

If you simply click it--instead of rolling it--you can do that with standard customizations available on any desktop. You approach it exactly as you would for assigning custom key combinations or macros.

If it involves "rolling the wheel", I really don't know. That might get a little tricky. I really haven't delved into the guts of the imwheel thing--I was just glad to see it work.

I hope that gives you some direction.

in fluxbox, when no window is activated, and you roll the mousewheel, it changes desktops accordingly. Im all used to it, and really like it, and want to do the same in kde. Ive looked at all the options in the control center with no luck.

You could try in the Control Center in the Desktop then Behavior clicks on desktop and change the middle button behavior to popup a window list on click I think that's the closest you will get to the roll the wheelmouse.

You can always download the source for fluxbox and see how they did it.

It may just be a bash script; or something you may be able to duplicate with the right entries in the desktop or window manager configuration files.

When you have the source available, there isn't anything you "can't" do in Linux. It is just a matter of investing the time.

I think it is interesting, but personally, it is not worth the time for me--it may be for you. That is how linux grows. If enough people are interested in your "tweak" to KDE (If you make it a patch or publish how you did it) it may end up as a standard option.
