Mouse Support in Terminal--Without X

I am trying to enable mouse support at the terminal (it's a frame buffer terminal, if that makes a difference). I do not care about making my mouse work in X; I just want to get it to work at the terminal.

I know this can be done, and I believe making this happen is just a matter of finding the right kernel option, but I can't remember which it is. Is that true? If it is, does anyone know the kernel option to enable mouse support at the terminal?

Mouse support in the terminal is enabled by installing the gpm package.
