mouse stops responding after being idle

When I am running krdc in full screen mode and leave my laptop idle for several minutes and then go back to it the mouse stops working. I can swtich to a login term and kill krdc, but when I switch back to X the mouse still doesn't work. I end up doing the old ctrl+alt+bksp. I am using krdc over vncviewer as I was having bad problems with fullscreen mode in it and the keyboard focus.

Thinkpad T43
Slackware 10.2

Anything in /var/log/messages or /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Is this a usb mouse or a trackpad?

The USB mouse, track ball and touch pad all stop working.

Here is the end of the Xorg log:
Code:
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.14.4 (1404)
Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics event device found (checked 42 nodes)
Synaptics Touchpad The evdev kernel module seems to be missing
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
(**) Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Query no Synaptics: 6003C8
(EE) Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device
(EE) Synaptics Touchpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Touchpad"
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Keyboard" (type: KEYBOARD)
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "USB_Mouse" (type: MOUSE)
(--) USB_Mouse: PnP-detected protocol: "ExplorerPS/2"
(II) USB_Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)
(II) USB_Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded

(II) USB_Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded
(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)
(II) USB_Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded
Here is the end of a log for a "clean" Xorg (when I restart):
Code:
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.14.4 (1404)
Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics event device found (checked 42 nodes)
Synaptics Touchpad The evdev kernel module seems to be missing
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
(**) Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Query no Synaptics: 6003C8
(EE) Synaptics Touchpad no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device
(EE) Synaptics Touchpad Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Touchpad"
(II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Keyboard" (type: KEYBOARD)
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "USB_Mouse" (type: MOUSE)
(--) USB_Mouse: PnP-detected protocol: "ExplorerPS/2"
(II) USB_Mouse: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded
Looks like there may be something wrong with the power management. I could not find anything in the messages log that looked interesting.

This only seems to happen when I am in vncviewer or krdc in fullscreen mode (I am not sure that it doesn't happen in non-fullscreen mode though). Any ideas on what next?
