mouse pointer

I'm using Mandrake 8.1 AMD KII-550 , Trident Ciber Blade AGP 8 MB onboard.
I have a problem in that periodically the mouse pointer will position
itself about
1cm to the right of its actual position.

I have tried Mandrake 8.0 ,8.1 , 8.2 beta and SUSE 7.3, the problem still happens , the only solution is reboot the system but just for little while it happens again.
I believe its a bug on X.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has worked through this
issue
