Newbie - gforce 4200

Hi I am Coquie and have just been converted.
After much research, I have decided to ask for help.
Let me bring you up to date -
1. The vt 8233 AC'7 driver for my kernel sound does not work after much attempt.
2. I have a gforce 4 ti and lets just see what happens when i get here.
3. What can I use for a movie player.
4. What can I use for an emulator.

Please keep in mind that this request is based on the graphics package.
I would like to contribute my little bit as well. So after my experience I will be placing a web page up with knowledge to help others, so please keep in mind that I will be using ur responses in it.

THANK YOU!

assuming you have tried the normal kernel versions of
a sound card drive, search for alsa. they are a set of
alternate linux sound card drivers. You can install those
for your next attempt.
mplayer is the best "movie player" can play divx movies
of all sorts and dvd's. i think that site is www.mplayerhq.?,
i don't know, but search for mplayer.
if by emulator you mean windows emulator, there are
several versions of wine. some cost money and some
don't. there are also some cpu virtualizing programs,
like vmware and win4lin that you can install under linux,
and install windows into them. they cost money.
