Mounting circus with latest Ubuntu

I am having plenty of grievance with latest release of Ubuntu and mounting and unmounting partitions or NAS. Firstly, somehow apparently windows NTFS partitions can not be mounted directly in boot.

Secondly with NAS and WLAN. Somehow with Ethernet it works but with WLAN it does not work correctly, the whole boot gets stuck when trying to mount an NFS partition during the boot. I made a short script and put it in cron to check whether net is available and the NAS server can be pinged - if so then the script mounts the drives. Now I only have the problem that the laptop does not fully shutdown if I do not first unmount the NAS partitions. I could also fix this with a band aid script but I do not know how I can call that at shutdown automatically. Any ideas?

And then why is it such a mess...?
