Mounting a USB Flash drive

Could someone please tell me how to mount my Flash USB mp3 player on college linux please as i want to transfer files from my Emac running OS X to my other computer running college linux but my emac doesnt have a floppy drive

Plug USB cable to the port. Then check dmesg or /var/log/syslog to see what device was finded by system, and mount it.
