morzilla 1.0 and red hat 7.3

howdy. i had upgraded to red hat 7.3

installed was mozilla 9.7 i believe

went to kpackage, tryed to uninstall, unsuccessful, crash error

went to kpackage , clicked on mozilla 1.0, click on upgrade, clicked install

opened kpackage, looked in directory under internet, mozillla web browser was upgraded from 9.7 to 1.0

couple of questions-

1. must one try to uninstall a package first before installing the new package, in my case, mozilla 9.7 to 1.0?

2. i could uninstall opera, and reinstall it with no problems, why could i uninstall opera but not mozilla.

first reaction to mozilla 1. -looks real cool. the text is nice, think i may reall get to like it. good work mozilla.

Usually you should be able to upgrade without reinstallation. There're many peackages depending on Mozilla. They need it to run... There are no packaged requiing opera, so you can uninstall it easily.

When you start the installation (I am assuming that you have the tarball), it will come up with a location. If you change the location to the /usr/lib/mozilla directory, it will then tell you it's going to delete the older version. It will then install the newer one and all should be fine. I just did this a few days ago and it worked without a problem.
