LinuxQuestions.org - More mplayer issues...no /.mplayer folder?!

I've installed Mplayer...twice now. The same thing happens. Everytime I try to start mplayer, I get this:

So, it can't find my Skin or my Font...or, so that's what I'm taking from all this mess. Well....it's looking for all these .conf files that I cannot find. And the directory it's looking for /root/.mplayer doesn't seem to exist!! What gives here? I run ./configure --enable-gui; make; and make install. Being that these settings seem to be default...why isn't it defaulting to the right location? Where could my .conf files be? I am REALLY starting to hate Mplayer...but, I hear it's the best media player...and I NEED a good media player!!
