Monitoring network buffer usage in a process

Hi

I'm debugging some performance problems in an application that writes data between systems separated by TCP/IP/Ethernet. A developer has change the application to vary the TCP windows size, based on the setting of an environment variable. But the application is not running any faster. I'd like to make sure that the application is actually using the larger TCP windows size. How best can I determine this?

Thanks!
tl

just grab the tcp packets off the wire with tcpdump or wireshark. you can easily pull the window size out there.

True enough, but I'd like to find something to actually look at the processes. lsof seemed a good tool, and it even has just what I wanted (-T w), which reports the window size. Unfortunately, this parameter is not supported on Linux (I even tried the latest kit).

Any other options?

Thanks!
