Question module dependencies error


my system is getting hanged at the point "finding module dependencies"during booting . anybody who knows about its please define what is this "module dependencies" and to make my system work.
ihave got red hat linux9 with me.

any doubt on the nature of the problem contace at rejivl143@yahoo.com
i will be very thankful to you as i am struggling with this problem for the past one month, my repeated installations are failing.\
please help

You don't happen to have a motherboard with an nForce chipset, do you?
It seems there is a problem with them and the solution would be to unplug the usb devices.

thankyou ice9 , for responding so quickely, actually i was working fine with the linux environment , this problem propped up suddenly one fine morning when i was booting to linux, i had a dual boot with windowsXP as the other os,
my system config
amd athlon XP2000+
Asus A7N266-VM SE motherboard(nVidia nForce220D )
this is my sys config, and i dont hava any usb devices
