modprobe path settings

Hello i recently update my mandrake kernal using mandrake update, big mistake.

I had to change symlinks in boot to point to correct kenel version but now when i boot my modules will not load as modprobe it looking for old kernel version:
/lib/modules/2.4.8-26mdk/modules.dep

but that dir is now new kernal version
/lib/modules/2.4.8-34mdk/modules.dep

how can i get modprobe to look in correct dir?

cheers

Try booting the new kernel, logging on as root and doing "depmod -a".

this just reconfirms my problem, that everything to do with modulles is pointing to the old kernel version modules dir ie:

everything looks for /lib/modules/2.4.8-26mdk
but the dir is now /lib/modules/2.4.8-34mdk

i just need to to tell modprone to look in new dir, there must be conf file with this path in it?

cheers
