Mobile processor multiplier changing?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi all,

I run a mobile processor in my desktop. The board I am using does not allow multiplier changing in the BIOS, so I boot at 6x. I can however, in windows, use CPUMSR to change it to whatever I like (I like 10x). Is there any linux equivalent to this program?

/edit: its an AMD Athlon XP Mobile 2400+

/edit2: found this

http://fab51.com/cpu/tips/linux_k7-mcf.html

going to try it right now

/edit3: yep, doesnt compile, and I dont know what im missing. damn

When you run the config script, doesn't it tell you what you are missing?

I'm also trying to compile the k7mctrl-program (k7mctrl-0.2.tar) on Mandrake 10.1 / kernel 2.6.8.1-6mdk.i586 / tk-8.4.5-6mdk.i586 / tcl- 8.4.5-6mdk.i586.

I can't find a configure-script...

make runs fine until 'tk':
make -C tk
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/rootroot/k7mctrl-0.2a/tk'
gcc -O2 -I/usr/include/tcl8.4 -I../lib -c tkk7m.c -o tkk7m.o
tkk7m.c: In function `DisplayConfFile':
tkk7m.c:295: error: missing terminating " character
tkk7m.c:296: error: `wm' undeclared (first use in this function)
tkk7m.c:296: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
tkk7m.c:296: error: for each function it appears in.)
tkk7m.c:296: error: syntax error before "title"
tkk7m.c:296: error: stray '\' in program
...
make[1]: *** [tkk7m.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/rootroot/k7mctrl-0.2a/tk'
make: *** [all] Error 2

It can't be that wrong, maybe with the right version of tk it will work.
Any hints ??
Thanks
