Exclamation missing files, parsing errors


Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

I have a missing file on line 17980
causing problems updating, tried a few things in terminal to no effect. any ideas how to rebuild oss.

Any real information, such as what version/distro of Linux? What you're trying to do? What program is giving you the missing file error? What you've done/changed, that may have caused this to happen???

Posting a few lines of error messages, with a vague problem, doesn't give us alot to go on, to try to help you.
