MINT workaround to install AMD drivers?

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running MINT Maya. It's a fresh install. I have tried to install the Additional Drivers through the Control Panel, but each time I try I am told I don't have the authorisation. Yrt it never offers the choice to put in my password. Is there a SIMPLE work around? I get baffled by technical terms and bullshit, though not necassarily in that order.

Open a terminal and launch the command
Code:

sudo jockey-text -e xorg:fglrx

Might have to go to the AMD site and get their drivers and follow the sort of complex install.
