migrate BASIC program to new server

We have a BASIC program running on an SCO Unix box that is probably 15 years old. It performs one busines function that is still needed quarterly.

I would like to move it to a new server. When I copy the files to a new Centos installation and try to run the ./basic program, I get:

/usr/lib/libc.so.1: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory

if I do a: yum provides /usr/lib/libc.so.1
..i come up empty.

So, I'm trying to learn if there is a version of Linux that might support a library that includes /usr/lib/libc.so.1

(I think. I'm all ears for better ideas.)

Any suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks,
-dog

I'm not sure how it works. Is BASIC complied?

I was hoping that I could just copy the whole directory structure to the new server....

I don't think it can be an endian issue.

Guess is you have a 64 bit OS and need some of the 32 bit files. Might be better off with a 32 install.

It can be. But whatever you are trying to execute appears to be a very old binary and/or not compiled for Linux.

Basic

Is your basic interpreted or compiled?

IF interpreted, you may be able to run it under a somewhat more recent BASIC interpreter, thus avoiding the problem entirely.

There are a LOT of BASIC interpreters and a few compilers, many of them available for free on Linux systems.
