Unhappy microtek scanmaker3840 on mandrakelinux 10.1

I have mandrakelinux 10.1 dualboot with win xp.
I have downloaded sane-backends-1.0.15 with sm3840 files and patch file.
I followed the instruction ./configure/make/make install as root.
Things seem fine, and sane-find-scanner sees the scanner.
But,scanimage -L detects no scanner.
Xsane sees no scanner too.
I checked the dll.conf,sm3840.conf and usb.usermap files,all appear
fine to me.The sm3840 and its id were named.
I'm sucked .
Please help
