Microsoft Office 2007 Does not work properly in Wine 1.4
Microsoft Office 2007 Does not work properly in Wine 1.4,
I can install it in Zorin (Ubuntu-based), but when I run it, like Winword, it launched, but when I try to save file, it crashed. I has installed necessary dll files with winetricks, but still failed. |
My Linux is 64 bit.
dotnet20 is not supported. msxml6 also can't be installed. |
I'd suggest Virtualbox for Windows Office Suites.
|
Instruction from certain forums says it should work. :(
|
The relevant source should be the WineAppDB, where the Word version from Office 2007 only gets a silver rating, which means that parts are not working of working correctly. If you have to use Windows software the obvious solution is to use it in Windows (either VM or dual-boot), otherwise switch to open source software like LibreOffice or OpenOffice.org.

If you MUST use the OLD VERY OLD MS office 2007 and NOT the current MS office 2012 or the bit older 2010
then PLEASE RUN MICROSOFT'S OFFICE SUITE ON A WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM !!! or use OpenOffice3.6 or LibreOffice 3.6 |
If you insist on using Microsoft Office (any version for that matter) i would recommend the use of PlayOnLinux.
Office 2010 (32 bit version) works very smooth under that, 2007 would probably do aswell if i had a install cd of that. What PlayOnLinux does is create a 1 program specific WINE enviroment with all the dependencies of just that one program. So no conflictions between windows stuff. (o ps, tested the last version under Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. So 64bit Ubuntu based should (in theory of course) work) |
Are you using a 64 bit wine installation, perhaps?
|
I've got Office 2007 into Wine and it works very well. Are you sure you've got all the necessary dll?
In my case, I selected Windows Version as Windows Vista from the Applications Tab and I overrode two dll files rpcrt4.dll and msxml3.dll from Libraries tab, 'cause they must be native windows. |
I am using 64bit Linux, Ubuntu based distro.
|
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. I think there isn't any important difference between mine and yours distribution.
|
If that was meant to be an answer to my question, then it's wrong.
What I asked was: is your installed wine a 32 bit or a 64 bit one? This should answer why dotnet20 and msxml3 aren't supported, as you said in your second post... |
it is wine 64bit
|
Then try to switch to a 32 bit wine installation (you'll need to install some 32-bit libs as well) if you don't really need to run some 64-bit only Windows programs.
|
I will delete .wine completely to purge out everything and reinstall Wine.
Will feedback to you later............... |
I gave up, my pirated MS Office can't install. :(
|
Use a free solution then, it will work on Linux without any problems.
By the way, pirating is nothing to be proud of, especially not in a Linux community, where obeying to licenses is an essential thing. |
Buy a license or use Libreoffice. Piracy is wrong!
|
Not every documents created in MS Office, when opened in Libre/Open Office, will appear 100% the same, some settings will be out.
Especially when you create Graphs with Excel. |
When I use the drawing tools in WORD to draw, when I open it in Libreoffice, usually the drawing will be distorted, all symbols running away from original position.
|
Reported because of post 17.
|
Indeed, stating you want to install a pirate copy of MS Office makes this thread violate the LQ cracking rule. For this reason the thread is closed. Nuff' said.
