ok, bring this back to life for a bit,
what i am doing is
mplayer dvd://1 (which plays the movie just fine, sound and all)
but when i do the following,
mencoder dvd://1 -ovc lavc -oac lavc -o terminator3.avi
the picture is there but the the stupid director talking all the time!!!!
i have tried different audio options (-oac copy, lame ) and they get the exact same thing,
all i want to know is has anyone else gotten this problem?

If you pass mencoder the option -aid 128 it will select the first audio track, -aid 129 the second audio track etc.
I suggest playing the dvd with mplayer dvd://1 -aid 128 (or -aid 129) to see which track contains the real audio
