I'm trying to encode a video as xvid, but am getting this problem

bash-2.05b$
I got this on Gmplayer at the start, but switching from the default video driver to gl seemed to fix it, but I cannot find how to do this with mencoder.

Any ideas?

The error message says:

xvid: you must specify one or a valid combination of 'bitrate', 'pass', 'quantizer' settings

The command you entered doesn't. Try addition option:

-xvidencopts bitrate=1600

or whatever bitrate you want the output to be.

Worked perfectly, thanks.
