Media Services on Linux platform similar to Windows Media Services

I am trying to get some information on this issue, I dont have a windows 2003 server license, nor I plan to buy one, too expensive, but I would like to host my personal videos on the web, does anyone know if Linux can do the job? I have tried to install Fodora Core 5. but I am just too newbie to the linux world. anyone can help?

Oh yeah, Linux can do the job. Much better than Windows, too. Are you looking to streamline your videos, or something as simple as an FTP server? Also, don't expect someone to set it all up for you. You're new, so you're going to have to do some homework on the subject.

Oh, and welcome to LQ.

Thanks for the info..I can get the FTP Server working fine, but I need to streamline the videos, something I can do with my TV Card, so I can host the TV programs on the server, and watch them through Internet while I was at office..well..World Cup is coming...
