Media player output text file for now playing

I was talking with the main developer (I think) of autoprofile. In order to get the "Now Playing" info of a media player, it needs to output the information to a text file, and autoprofile can read it in to update your profile info, or away message (gaim plugin). Here are the media players I'm hoping to look for support:
  • mplayer
  • xine
  • audacious
