Media Arhiver - my project

First of, I didn't know where else to post it, so if it's not in the right sub-forum please move it. If it doesn't fit to this forum in general, please remove it.

So, I've been coding/learning while developing a GUI application. It was first based on MFC, but I had dificulties porting it to Linux, so I've chosen Qt3, as it is installed by default on Slackware and being easier to port back to Windows. Why the port to Windows? Because in my opinion there are to few open source applications for Windows, and I would like that people could use my application on any platform they are.
So about the application, I think it would be best to describe how I even got to the idea of this project. In my home, there is a big pile of CDs, DVDs, floppyes etc. A lot of portable computer media in short and I always lended and borrowed CDs/DVDs/etc to my friends or people that I know at least a bit. But I have a tincy problem. I always forget to who I lended something or from whom I borrowed something. So first I started making a list with a text editor, but the list has grown to big to search and edit everything with a text editor. So I've decided, I could write my own application, for my use only. And as I was programing I was thinking: "I sure as hell ain't the only one with this problem.", so I decided to publish my application. Offcourse as OpenSource and under GPL license.
So I think this explains what my application does, but in short:
- manage a list of your media
- manage to who you lend something
- manage from whom you borrowed something
- or just check if you have that CD/DVD/... at home instead of digging through your pile.

Now, I'm not saying that this application is going to be usefull to anybody, it might be or it might be not. It sure is useful to me. And I cannot guarantee it will work as you might want it to work. And it sure works for me.
Although I've done some testing on it, there might still be many bugs in it and I would be more than happy if anyone would write those bugs to ma@x-shells.org

And now for the link to the project:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediaarhiver/

Note that there are two translations ATM. English and Slovene.
And for everyone that is willing to try my application, thank you for downloading and trying, it means a lot to me.

Oh and I also accept critics, suggestions, ideas, a.s.o... on ma@x-shells.org

I had a similar "program" a while back, but it was merely a quickly built MySQL database that was used trough a very simple php interface..got bored to it as I usually remembered things myself faster than the program searched for me

A good idea anyway. I'd test except that I don't have qt libraries, I use GTK apps if I need graphical stuff, and having qt libs is just wasting my space.

I try to write my programs (that are usually of any help for me only, as I just write some quick tool to aid me..nothing perfect) so that they work from the command line, that's what I usually use, and if I really need, after that think a way to make a graphical user interface for that command line program. Easier when you can run the program even if there's no graphical environment available.
