MDK 10 Installer, not recognizing RAID
Hello,
I am new to Linux (and MDK) and want to try something new. However, I am unable to install the OS as I cannot partition my HDD properly due to the installer not recognizing my RAID setup. I posted this in the MandrakeClub Forums: Okay during the install, the MDK cannot detect my RAID controller properly. It is a Promise FastTrack 376 SATA RAID controller onboard the MSI K7N2-Delta ILSR (MS-6570). I found reference Linux drivers on Promises web-site. The main problem is that the installer asks for an ext2 formatted floppy with the drivers on it (when I choose expert install on the prompt). I plan on a dual-boot system (XP / MDK 10.0) but since I cannot install, I cannot format an ext2 floppy in windows. If there is a way for someone to make an ext2 formated image (.img I can use with rawrite) of these drivers so that I can provide them for the installer, it would be greatly appreciated. the promise drivers can be found here: www DOT antgel DOT co DOT uk/compsci/linux/promise_raid DOT shtml You can send it to me via email or IM me via AIM, MSN, or y! email: tlk21@uakron.edu AIM: TheDragonTelamon MSN: thedragontelamon@hotmail.com y!: t3hl33td4rg0n Also, there are dirvers on this page: www DOT promise DOT com/support/download/download2_eng DOT asp?productId=104&category=driver&os=4 NOTE: TX4000 = FastTrack 376/378 btw, I know nothing about Linux. I want to see what I can do with MDK before making this dual-boot into a linux box I have seen people with similar problems, however the solutions evade me, thanks in advance for the help :D |
