md5sum script

does anyone know where i could find a free md5sum script to recursively sum all of the files in each dir and create 1 md5 for each dir of files. i archive live concet recordings and i want to give each show its own md5 file, rather than 1 md5 file for a bunch of files.

Also the filename of the MD5 should be the same as the folder name. Thanks in advance.

Can you not do cd concert1
md5sum * >> concert1.md5sums? Then if someone wants to check the files, they'd do md5sum --check concert1.md5sums

i have several thousand dirs...i want to create a script to sum them all, and spit it out to a separate md5 for each

nevermind... cfv is a real nice little tool. for mass md5 (or other checksum algorithms) creation and checking, cfv is what you need. check it out.
