maya crashes; opengl not properly configured.
Hi there. I have a bit of a problem with my maya installation. It's very unstable, any thing I do results in maya crashing. To find out what's wrong I started maya from the command line to see what error message I get. Unfortuanatly the message is not very informative. Here it is :
sohail@linux:~$ maya Error: default temp directory /usr/tmp does not have write permissions. Mayaź, Version 4.0.1, Mon Nov 12 23:35:39 EST 2001 Copyright 1997-2001 Alias|Wavefront, a division of Silicon Graphics Limited. All rights reserved. Graph Layout Toolkit Copyright 1992-1997 Tom Sawyer Software, Berkeley, California All rights reserved. /usr/aw/maya4.0/bin/maya.bin encountered a fatal error Signal: 6 (Unknown Signal) Attempting to save in /home/sohail/maya/projects/default/scenes/sohail.030316.1457.ma Don't pay much attantion to the first error message. It because i'm not running maya as root and thus /usr/tmp not being writable. I googled on the message I got but I got notting. But I found a logfile that was more helpfull. This is what I found in "mayaLog" in my home directory: Maya Message Log starting Sunday, March 16, 2003 Error: Unable to get OpenGL visual with these attributes: RGB, Single buffered Error: OpenGL is not configured properly !! As you see it say's opengl is not configured properly. I don't get that since every other app using opengl (quake 3, glxgears, ut 2003) all work as the supposed to. I have a nVidia gforce 4 440 MX graphics adapter. I have installed 376 MB installed on my system which should be more then enough. I also have the newest nvidia drivers. If any one could help me I would be very greatfiull |
