Matlab icon missing from taskbar
I have Matlab 2012a installed in my Linux Mint 13 XFCE. The Matlab program itself runs okay, but one strange thing about it is that the icon disappears from the taskbar after the program is opened for a while. The icon appears again if I restart Matlab, but then after some time it disappears. I still can access the program by "Alt+Tab", but I would like to have the icon always on the taskbar as long as the program is opened.
I find someone was having similar issues (http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentr..._thread/267008), and the issues were considered because of a bug of compiz. However, I haven't found a fix. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!
the program is not finding the icon
debian based systems are a bit different and mint is a bit different
but look in the matlab install folder for the icons
they are in there someplace
copy it to /usr/share/pixmaps
( or the equivalent on mint)
or add the location of the iconsin the matlab install folder to the system path
this is a common issue with proprietary software
i use Octave so this is only an educated guess
