How did it fail? Tell about the problem.

first i found an guide about installing. it contains an license.dat file and says copy license.dat file to install path.i did it. the guide contains also a license key and says use this key while installing.after installing the license key install wizard asks do you want to begin installing? and i replied yes. when i click to yes the program couldn't continue and aborts installing.
if i don't enter the license key i can continue but after all cds installation finished i can't execute lmstart with ./lmstart -u "user" (i am doing all of them with root passwd) the command works but says access denied to TWm files and lmsdown works automatically.
what sall i do?

Which license.dat file did you use?
The one which you are using right now may be for on in which license server
flexlm should be installed on a network computer.??

i found the license file from a ftp site which i found the matlab.

student23de 04-23-2004 03:25 AM

Which ftp-site was it?

Hello!

Perhaps there is anybody who knows a site where to get the license.dat file. I found this page ftp://129.177.13.17/pub/matlab but there is no license.dat file.

Thank you for your help.

Many greetings,

Markus

Since MATLAB is a licenced software, the licence.dat file may not be given access to everyone. Moreover, even if it were to be given, the licence.dat file will have the ip address of the licence server. And each time we run MATLAB, licence verification is needed.

Unless someone finds a crack for MATLAB licence, one maynot be able to use the software.

Scilab is a good alternative (it is free) and as powerful as MATLAB.

Also Octave which comes in RH distro CDs is also quite good.

You realise this is a 4 year old thread, right? Last I checked MATLAB is proprietary software.

jf.argentino 05-09-2008 11:54 AM

MATLAB is proprietary and really expensive... But you have its 99% compatible clone OCTAVE which is totally open source, and available through your package managers for a big part of linux distributions.

may be u can use GNU Octave instead of Matlab.. :D

Since that was your first post at LQ, maybe you haven't noticed yet that there is a date in the upper left corner of every previous post.

Matlab is commercial software. Don't ask us to help you steal it. If you want to use it, buy it. Unlike many commercial Windows programs, Matlab has a (commercial) Linux version.

GNU Octave is similar to Matlab, but free.
