below is the error i am getting
when i run "matlab" under shell
what is FLEXM ? why do i need to install that??
License Manager Error -8.
Invalid (inconsistent) license key
The license-key and data for the feature do not match.

Feature: MATLAB
License path: /usr/local/matlab6p5/etc/license.dat:/usr/local/matlab6p5 -
/etc/*.lic
FLEXlm error: -8,130
For further information, refer to the FLEXlm End User Manual,

Make sure your license file is correct.

"license manager error -8"
flexlm is license manager for matlab and any other software. However you can run mutlab both under console or under X. What you see under X is only a gui for matlab. It's similar to octave.
Now
/usr/local/matlab6p5/etc/license.dat:/usr/local/matlab6p5 -
/etc/*.lic
don't seems to be work!!!!
for using matlab you must be run flexlm daemon on boot! Check in /usr/local/matlab6p5/etc/ dir there is files calls rc.lm.glx86 you must start it on boot! It runs on boot license manager for matlab. Without it nobody works ;-). If you had installed flexlm run this on startup:
#!/bin/sh
#
# MATLAB FLEXlm Network License Manager Daemon
#
# For boot-time initialization on glxn86
#
# Steps: (as root)
#
# If the following links do not exist create them:
#
# ln -s $MATLAB/etc/lmboot /etc/lmboot_TMW
# ln -s $MATLAB/etc/lmdown /etc/lmdown_TMW
#
# Then:
#
# cp $MATLAB/etc/rc.lm.glnx86 /etc/init.d/flexlm (Debian)
# cp $MATLAB/etc/rc.lm.glnx86 /etc/rc.d/init.d/flexlm (Red Hat)
#
# CRITICAL: replace username argument to lmboot_TMW
# by a real usename OTHER than root!
#
# Look in /etc/inittab for the default runlevel. Create
# a link in the rc directory associated with that run
# level. For example if it is 5, then
#
# cd /etc/rc5.d; ln -s ../init.d/flexlm S90Flexlm (Debian)
# cd /etc/rc.d/rc5.d; ln -s ../init.d/flexlm S90Flexlm (Red Hat)
#
USERNAME=[your_user_name_not_root]
case "$1" in
start)
if [ -f /etc/lmboot_TMW ]; then
/etc/lmboot_TMW -u $USERNAME && echo 'MATLAB_lmgrd'
fi
;;
stop)
if [ -f /etc/lmdown_TMW ]; then
/etc/lmdown_TMW > /dev/null 2>&1
fi
;;
*)
echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop}"
exit 1
;;
esac
exit 0

USERNAME=[]
so i type in myself
so , what should i do to make it run when boot?
Great thanks man~
also , when i run again
i notice the matlab doesn't ask me to key in any serial key at all
hoewver, when it give me error message
License Manager Error -8.
Invalid (inconsistent) license key
The license-key and data for the feature do not match.
so, does that mean i have to key-in the serial key that i found my self?, in some where ?

*Install matlab in install dir /opt/MatlabR13
*follow previously istruction to run rc.lm.glnx86 on startup
*reboot machine
*run matlab

PS: If your default runlevel is different from 5, for example 3, change
# cd /etc/rc.d/rc5.d; ln -s ../init.d/flexlm S90Flexlm
into
# cd /etc/rc.d/rc3.d; ln -s ../init.d/flexlm S90Flexlm
If you want you can link flexlm into all rc?.d dir. It'is inportant to run flexlm daemon on startup
