Does anyone know of a good open source math software for doing operations with functions, matrices, etc. Something similar to mathcad or matlab but open source.

thanks,

not aware of anything as powerful on GPL, but both those run under linux just fine, and have student licenses if that applies to you.

've read some ad about MathCad for Linux.
My previous experience under Window$ a few years ago tells me it helped well my to get my grade. :D

Ever hear of APL?

If you know what it is and haven't already run away :) then look for aplus - it's free and runs on about everthing but MS Win.
