Question mass picture viewer???

one nice thing that windows did with XP was their picture/fax viewer. this allows you to open a single file in a directory, and via the use of navigation buttons at the bottom of the display you can single click up or down in the directory to view other pictures without having to navigate to the new file, or open a new viewer, or what ever.

is there anything like that in linux?

Yup.

'Kuickshow' does exactly what you want (you can use the mouse wheel to move between images).

Kuickshow is good and another really good viewer with similar features is GQview.
